Getting the set-up right

A vessel basin changes how the rest of the vanity comes together, so plan these three elements early:

  • The top: a stone vanity top or timber top gives a solid, water-ready base
  • The tap: choose tall basin mixers or wall mount tapware so the spout clears the rim
  • The waste: most basins are sold basin only, so add a matching basin waste

What's the difference between an above counter basin and a bench mount basin?

There's no difference: an above counter basin, also called a bench mount or vessel basin, sits on top of the vanity benchtop rather than being set into it. The name simply varies between retailers and trades. You'll find all of our styles in this category in our bench mount basins collection.
Which vanity top suits an above counter basin?

A stone or timber top is the most popular base for an above counter basin. Our 20mm pre-cut stone tops come with a waste hole aligned to vanity drawer waste positions, with versions for wall-mount or hob-mount tapware. MADERA timber tops are 25mm solid white oak for a warmer look.
Can I use any tap with an above counter basin?

No, an above counter basin needs a tap that reaches over the rim, so choose a tall basin mixer or a wall mounted mixer and spout. A standard short mixer will usually sit too low. Our mixers carry a 15 year ceramic cartridge warranty, 7 years on product and parts, and 1 year labour.
